CI Feild Trip

Holy bananas everyone it was cold out Wed, Oct 28.. I found it hard to shoot anything indoors after being out in the cold for so long. My lenses were so foggy that I couldn't shoot anything for about 10 mins or so. But like I've been telling people in Group B I am a zoo geek and no matter how many times I go in a year I always love it.

6.2 Photographic Hero

I chose Charles C. Ebbet as my photography Hero. He was born in 1905 and passed away at the age of seventy-three from cancer. He purchased his first camera at the age of eight but in the 1920's became well known as a still photographer. In the 1930's he worked with the Miami Daily News as a photographer which then helped him with his publications in the New York Times. By September of 1932, Ebbet became well known for his photos of the construction workers on structural beams on their lunch break.

Ebbet was known to have used vintage cameras to help capture his vintage style photos.(Camera can be seen in slideshow) This camera was manufactured in 1940-1946 and was used for Military photos. It made 4x5 inch photos and has 45 shutter speeds the highest being 1/1000. Ebbet's cropping was also fuller length shots using the rule of thirds, Centering the subject and filling the screen. From what we learnt in class about contrast Ebbet seem to have used a wide variety of different contrasts.

I absolutely love Charles C. Ebbets work. He captured the true essence of his subjects in the photos. I love the contrast in all his photos. He has some that are high constrast which pops out the black and white in the photos and sets the mood for what he was portraying in his photos. He also used a low contrast to set that foggy mood in the window washer photo. I also like how he used silhouettes as part of his images. He definitly showed all aspects of photography in his work.

Dt 5 Quiz: Sierra Blake

October 9, 2009 we were assigned a quiz in DT class. We were assigned partners and told to shoot 20 photos of our partner. My partner was Sierra Blake and she did a wonderful job posing for me. She gave me variety of poses as well as faces. Hope you enjoy!!!

Composition at Home

My experience shooting this assignment was fun. I started in the basement which I absolutely hate being down there because there are usually a couple bugs still roaming around from summer. I took some photos of some of moms sculptures and old objects handed down to us from other family members. I also stepped into the new washroom in the basement and took some photos there. Then I moved upstairs and spent some time in the kitchen and in the family room. I thought this assignment was a little difficult because I live at home and see these items everyday and for some reason did not feel as inspired as I would if I could shoot at someone else's house. It was still fun though going through the house to find some cool shots to display on my blog. Hope everyone enjoys:D

100 Creative ways..

100 creative ways... Great assignment. I chose to use cutlery, my goldfish as well as my dogs heart shaped urn. I think I was more challenged to get the best shots with my fish being in the picture. Fish do NOT stop moving lol. When I wanted my fish in the picture he would be on the other side of the bowl and when I didn't want him in the picture he was also there.
This assignment definitely challenge my creative side. I found I did get a little frustrated when I hit 50 photos and realized I needed 50 more. I took a break for lunch and went back to work and got some good shots.
Hope you guys enjoy my slideshow. Some are my favs some just didn't work out. But enjoy anyway.

Lines, Lines I love lines!!!

My adventure's of shooting LINES began at my house. I took the first couple in the kitchen as well as, the washroom of my house. It amazed me how many lines were just in my house and I had never noticed. I then went to my boyfriends part of town and spent the afternoon in a park near his place. The only challenge I had there was making sure a train didn't come while I was on the track :D
I ended the photoshoot at my house again but outside. I took them today Sept 21st and froze my butt. I found this assignment fun because it made you look outside of our little world and see that there is more to the eye then just grass, sky and dirt that we live amougnst many, many lines hehe.

If I had to choose one type of genre of photography that I enjoy shooting the most it would be People Portraits. I had worked with people for 4 years and enjoyed seeing different personalities in people. Babies were all different. One day you get a crying baby the next day or the same day you get a smiley baby. Two year olds have been an all time favourite because they always gave a challenge to see if you could get any smiles and not a blurred out image of them running out of the pictures.

I am hoping to learn all the techniques possible. I was only shown how to shoot people portraits, and the cameras were all preset to the studios liking and locked them so we could not change anything. I am hoping that I will learn how to use different programs and learn how to edit my portraits properly. I would also like to learn how to run my own business so those techniques would come in handy.

I would say my favourite photography-related memory would be the last couple days at school. The things we have learnt within the last week and a half has been amazing especially yesterday :D I also would say working at Sears was great because I got to meet new people and to hear that you have built memories of someone's child just melts my heart.
